Words from the newlyweds

We got married on September 5th 2020. Ward; a man who didn’t really see why we would organise a wedding. Mara; a woman who has been dreaming of a fairytale wedding since she was little. Try to bring that together! Lucette and Kiki from House of Luce immediately understood what would fit us and what our dream wedding would look like. Together we decided to organise an intimate wedding with a small number of guests. Now we could really start planning! After deciding who we would invite we continued with our venue search but this was easy, the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam! We both studied in this city, met each other here, bought our first house together and had both our children in Amsterdam. We were now really starting to look forward to our big day!
March 2020: the Corona virus took over the Netherlands. Everywhere around us weddings were postponed. And if they would take place, it had to be done with so many compromises. In the months March, April and May we have discussed this with House of Luce several times. They continuously kept us up to date on the newest measurements in the event industry and they kept looking for possibilities to let our wedding take place and kept working on alternative plans in case of extra measurements. The planning of your wedding is super overwhelming if you have never done it before. Count in a pandemic and the struggle is real! Lucette and Kiki have always kept their calm, stayed realistic and that was priceless to us.
Thankfully our big day could take place almost exactly as planned! First a beautiful ceremony in the lounge of the Amstel Hotel, followed by a toast on the sunny terrace after which we all entered a typical canal boat where we enjoyed a lunch on the canals of Amsterdam. When we returned, everyone took place at the table (which was styled incredibly beautiful!) and we enjoyed a great dinner and speeches. After a last drink we entered our decorated honeymoon suite. It was honestly the best day of our lives!
Lucette and Kiki have taken everything out of our hands. From budget management to negotiations with involved parties to thinking of all different back-up scenario’s in case we had to change something last minute due to the pandemic. They calmed us when necessary and were fully available with dedication and passion. It was wonderful to rely on their experience and expertise. You really must enjoy your wedding and the planning process, it’s so important! Planning your wedding with House of Luce is really the best wedding present you can give yourselves. Absolutely recommended!
